I know what it feels like when life changes overnight.

I started investing in real estate here in Mississippi in 2019.
By April 2022, I was at the height of my career. I had expanded my real estate business into two states and was preparing to expand into a total of four.
With two partners I had met at a real estate conference in 2019, I was preparing to close on a portfolio of 120 rental homes. I had invested $200,000 into another business venture.

I was involved in a horrific car accident and suffered what is known as internal decapitation — a catastrophic injury in which my skull separated from my spine.
Surgeons reattached my head to my body.
My prognosis was devastating, and I wasn't expected to come out of the surgery room alive.
98% of people who are internally decapitated do not survive — and those who do are told they will never walk again. I am beyond blessed to be part of the 2%.
But I did. And surviving was only the beginning.

I spent approximately 4-5 weeks in a coma and 2½ months hospitalized at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
When I woke up, the life I knew was gone…
I had to learn how to talk again. I had to learn how to walk again. I had to relearn simple tas most of us never think twice about.
I'll never forget standing over a hospital sink trying to brush my teeth for the first time in months & it was not a successful story.
I couldn't do it.
Something I had done thousands of times without thinking had suddenly become a mountain I had to climb.
My injuries were extensive. I endured multiple complex surgeries involving my neck, both arms and my right eye. I suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and brain bleeds. I lost peripheral vision in my right eye and was left legally blind in that eye.
And the surgeries didn't end when I left the hospital.
For years, my life consisted of physical therapy, occupational therapy, doctors, surgeons, rehabilitation and learning how to function independently again.
At one point, I was told something that devastated me: I would never drive again.
For nearly four years, something as simple as getting into my car and going somewhere by myself wasn't an option.
I couldn't just decide I wanted a Coke and drive to the store.
You don't realize how precious independence is until it's taken away from you.

There is one person I cannot tell this story without talking about: my Dad.
He has been beside me through surgeries in Mississippi and Georgia, physical therapy, occupational therapy and more doctors' appointments than I could ever count.
When I couldn't drive, he drove. When I needed surgery, he was there. When recovery became exhausting, he kept showing up.
There are some debts in life that money could never repay. This is one of them.
I truly don't know where I would be today without him.
And maybe that's part of why HomeBridge Homebuyer means so much to me.
I've learned firsthand that when someone's life falls apart, they don't always need another person telling them what they should do. Sometimes they simply need someone willing to stand beside them while they figure out what comes next.

While I was fighting to survive, my business couldn't wait for me.
I had been running much of my real estate operation myself. When I suddenly disappeared into a coma, everything stopped. When I died, my business died along with me…
The 120-property portfolio I had spent months working toward closed without me. My partners initially couldn't reach me and ultimately had to find another way to structure the transaction.
Years later, the medical cannabis business my Dad and I had invested in also failed.
I had gone from building multiple businesses and pursuing financial freedom to facing enormous physical, emotional and financial challenges.
For more than four years, I wasn't able to produce the income I once had.
There were times I had to borrow money to pay my mortgage, buy food, travel for surgeries and simply keep going.
I've spent years rebuilding my body while watching so much of the life I had built disappear.
Starting over sounds inspiring until you're the one who actually has to do it.
It can be scary. It can be lonely. And sometimes you have absolutely no idea what the next step is.
I know that feeling.
After being told I would never drive again, I decided I wasn't ready to accept that as the ending.
In May 2026, I took my driver's test.
I passed. And I got my driver's license back.
To someone else, that little plastic card might not mean much.
To me, it represented freedom. Independence. Progress.
It meant I could go somewhere without asking someone else to take me.
It reminded me that sometimes the biggest victories aren't the million-dollar deals.
Sometimes they're doing something everyone told you you'd never do again.

In March 2026, I went to an event in Richmond, Virginia.
And honestly, I almost can't believe I made it there.
I had won a ticket to the event, but getting a ticket was only part of the equation. I still needed flights. I still needed a place to stay. At that point in my life, I didn't have the resources I once had.
Two investors believed in me enough to chip in and help cover my flight and accommodations. So I went.
And that decision changed something in me.
That weekend, I found myself surrounded by real estate investors again—people who spoke the same language, had similar goals, were building, learning, taking risks, solving problems, and moving forward.
I also had the opportunity to meet Jim Ingersoll, founder of DealMaker Catalyst, along with other investors who reminded me of a part of myself I thought I had lost.
For the first time in a long time, I could see myself in this world again.

I came back to Mississippi a different person.
The event didn't magically fix everything. I didn't come home with unlimited money, a giant team, or every answer figured out.
But I came home with something I desperately needed:
Drive.
That event reignited me.
It reminded me that sometimes you don't need the entire plan before you start again.
Sometimes you just need to get yourself back in the room.
I'm rebuilding.
Not with the resources I had before. Not with a huge team or an unlimited budget.
Right now, I've got pens, notebooks, a computer, a phone, - and a whole lot of determination.
And that's enough to start.
I'm continuing my real estate education and focusing on buying houses and land, renovating properties, and learning more about short-term and mid-term rentals.
But I'm coming back to this business as a very different Angie.
Before my accident, real estate was primarily about building businesses, creating income and finding opportunities.
Today, it's also about people.
Because I've learned that there's usually a story behind every property.
An inherited house may represent someone you're grieving. A neglected property may belong to someone who simply doesn't have the money or physical ability to repair it. A rental may represent years of stress for an exhausted landlord. A property involved in divorce may represent the end of one chapter.
Sometimes selling a house or piece of land isn't really about the property at all. It's about being ready to move forward.
That's why I created HomeBridge Homebuyers.

Before my accident, I was an entrepreneur.
I had businesses I'd spent years building.
When the accident happened, everything died when I did...
For years, my focus wasn't growing businesses or producing income.
It was surviving.
Recovering.
Going to another appointment.
Preparing for another surgery.
Learning how to use my body again.
Businesses I'd worked incredibly hard to build were lost.
For a long time, so much of my life became about what I couldn't do.
Until eventually, I had to make a decision.
"I could spend the rest of my life looking at everything I lost... or I could start building again."
I chose to build again.

HomeBridge Homebuyers MS helps Mississippi property owners cross the bridge to a fresh start.
I buy houses and land throughout Mississippi in many different situations and conditions. I primarily focus on Rankin, Madison & Hinds County.
But I don't want HomeBridge Homebuyers to become another faceless "We Buy Houses" company.
Because I've been the person whose entire life changed unexpectedly.
I've lost things I thought were secure. I've had to ask for help. I've had to start over. I've been told no. I've been told that I'd never accomplish some of the things that I have.
And I've learned that neither word necessarily gets to decide how your story ends.
So when someone comes to HomeBridge because they're facing an inheritance, divorce, foreclosure, major repairs, an unwanted rental, vacant land, financial hardship or simply a life change, I want them to feel something different:
Safe. Heard. Understood.
I may be buying your property. But first, I'm listening to your story.
There Is Life on the Other Side.
My dream for HomeBridge Homebuyers MS goes beyond real estate.
Someday, I hope to start a nonprofit supporting people rebuilding their lives after traumatic, life-changing circumstances.
I'm also working toward sharing my story through a book, speaking engagements, videos and other platforms because I've realized something:
Our circumstances may be completely different, but the feelings of loss, fear and hopelessness can be very much the same.
I want people to know there is still life on the other side of whatever happened to them.
You don't have to rebuild everything today.
Sometimes you just have to find enough courage for one more day.
One day becomes two. Two days become two weeks. Two weeks become two months.
And eventually, you look behind you and realize:
You're rebuilding a life.
That's what happened to me. And I'm still rebuilding mine.

I don't know what brought you to HomeBridge Homebuyers MS.
Maybe you're simply ready to sell. Or maybe the property you're dealing with represents one of the hardest chapters of your life.
Either way, you won't find judgment here.
You'll find someone who understands what it means to start over.
If you're thinking about selling a house or land in Mississippi, tell me what's going on.
We'll talk about your property, your situation and what moving forward looks like for you.
